The Freenove UNO R4 WiFi Starter Kit with 286 pieces is a complete electronics and programming learning kit, suitable for studying microcontrollers, sensors, automation, motors and IoT applications. It includes a Freenove control board with integrated WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, a wide range of electronic components and a detailed digital tutorial covering 78 projects.

Technical description

The Freenove V5 Rev4 WiFi control board is based on the 32-bit Renesas RA4M1 microcontroller with an Arm Cortex-M4 core, a 48MHz operating frequency, 256KB Flash memory and 32KB SRAM. Its architecture provides increased processing capability for educational, laboratory and more advanced electronics projects.

The onboard ESP32-S3 provides WiFi and Bluetooth wireless connectivity, allowing the development of IoT, remote-control, remote-monitoring and wireless data-transfer applications.

The board features an integrated 12x8 red LED matrix that can display characters, symbols, animations, sensor indications and simple games without requiring an additional external display.

Programming and power are provided through a USB Type-C port. The board operates with 5V logic and provides 14 digital input and output pins, 6 analogue inputs and support for UART, I2C and SPI communication.

The kit includes a breadboard, connection wires, resistors, capacitors, LEDs, displays, switches, push buttons, integrated circuits, sensors, buzzers, a relay, motors and prototyping components. It allows circuits to be assembled without requiring soldering during the initial projects.

Educational projects

The digital tutorial includes 78 projects with wiring diagrams, electronic schematics, complete example code and detailed explanations. The projects progress from basic LED and push-button circuits to temperature and humidity sensors, ultrasonic measurements, infrared remote control, displays, motors, USB HID, WiFi and Bluetooth applications, virtual measuring instruments and games.

Typical applications

Suitable for learning electronics and programming, STEM laboratories, technical schools, educational institutions, automation projects, IoT systems, sensor applications, motor control, circuit prototyping and personal maker projects.

Compatibility note

The board is manufactured by Freenove and is compatible with the Arduino IDE and UNO R4 architecture. It is not an original Arduino UNO R4 WiFi board. Due to its different 32-bit architecture, some older libraries designed exclusively for UNO R3 boards using the ATmega328P may require updating or modification.

Tutorial note

The educational material is supplied as an English-language digital PDF download from the Freenove website. A printed manual is not included.
