SigmaORION G

The SIGMA ORION G is a general-purpose GSM/GPRS communication module mainly used as a backup communication path between an alarm control panel and an Alarm Receiving Centre when PSTN communication is unavailable.

Technical description

The device emulates an analogue telephone line and monitors the panel communication attempts through PSTN. If communication fails, it automatically switches to the GSM/GPRS network. Common dialler formats are supported through GSM, while Contact ID is used through GPRS.

It can send event notification SMS messages and provides 4 programmable I/Os for remote control of security or automation functions. The I/Os can be controlled by SMS or missed calls from authorised telephone numbers.

Programming is available locally through USB or remotely through GPRS. Configuration data is stored in EEPROM memory and is retained during power loss or SIM card replacement.

Typical applications

Suitable for upgrading existing alarm systems with a mobile network backup path, SMS event reporting and remote input or output control.

Installation note

Requires a SIM card with the PIN disabled and adequate GSM/GPRS coverage. Only an analogue PSTN line may be connected to the telephone line input, not ISDN or ADSL.
