OEMSMD-485

The SMD-485 is a photoelectric smoke detector with external DC power supply, N/O and N/C relay contacts and suitability for alarm or fire detection systems, as well as standalone operation when powered by a suitable DC supply.

The detector uses a photoelectric smoke sensing element and includes special software to reduce false alarms. It is suitable for 2-wire or 4-wire installations, features dual LEDs for 360° visual indication and provides a relay output that can be configured as N/O or N/C depending on the installation requirements.

Technical description
The SMD-485 operates from 9–28VDC according to the official commercial listing, while the installation manual specifies 9–25VDC at the power terminals. The indicator LED flashes slowly, approximately once every 5–6 seconds, during normal operation. The relay output is factory set as N/O and can be changed to N/C through an internal jumper.

Typical applications
Suitable for homes, offices, shops, warehouses, equipment rooms, technical rooms, small alarm installations, fire detection systems, security panels and applications requiring smoke detection with relay output.

Installation note
The detector should be installed on the ceiling, in a central location where smoke concentration is expected to be highest in case of fire. It should not be installed in recesses, corners or locations where smoke flow may be obstructed.

Compatibility note
Before installation, supply voltage, 2-wire or 4-wire wiring type, N/O or N/C contact requirement and compatibility with the alarm or fire detection panel must be checked. The SMD-485 is not a 9V battery standalone household smoke alarm, but a DC-powered detector with relay output.

Maintenance note
Detector operation should be tested periodically using suitable smoke test spray. The protective cover should only be removed after installation works in the area have been completed, to prevent dust and dirt from entering the sensor.
