The Microchip MCP2221-I/P USB 2.0 Full-Speed to I2C/UART Converter with 4 GPIO PDIP-14 is a USB 2.0 Full-Speed bridge for USB-to-UART and I2C/SMBus conversion with four configurable GPIO pins.

Technical description

The MCP2221 supports 12Mbit/s USB Full-Speed, provides 64-byte TX and RX buffers, 4 GPIO pins and integrates the USB termination resistors and oscillator. It operates from 3.0V to 5.5V and supports bus-powered or self-powered designs.

Indicative applications

Suitable for adding USB interfaces to microcontrollers, service tools, data logging, I2C sensors, UART equipment, test fixtures and embedded systems.

Compatibility note

The I/P version is an industrial-temperature PDIP-14 device. MCP2221 is a legacy/NRND device, so availability and long-term support should be checked for new designs.
