EwimarSUG-12VDC/DIN

The EWIMAR SUG-12VDC/DIN is a 2-channel DIN rail lightning and surge protection device for 12VDC power supply lines. It protects electronic equipment against lightning-induced currents, transient overvoltages and sudden voltage increases, providing a 20VDC protection level and a maximum discharge current of up to 20kA.

Technical description

The device protects two power conductors and supports a continuous line current of up to 5A. It provides two-stage surge protection, with a line-to-line discharge current of 0.5kA, a nominal line-to-ground discharge current of 10kA and a maximum line-to-ground discharge current of 20kA at an 8/20μs waveform.

The rated operating voltage is 12VDC and the maximum continuous operating voltage is 15VDC. Its low series resistance of approximately 38mΩ per line limits voltage drop during normal operation. Screw terminals provide secure input and output connections, while the enclosure occupies one standard module on a 35mm DIN rail.

Suitable for alarm systems, access control, security cameras, building automation, industrial controllers, sensors, power supplies, fire detection systems and other electronic equipment operating from a 12VDC power source.

Installation and compatibility note

The SUG-12VDC/DIN is connected between the power source, such as a power supply or battery, and the protected equipment. A correct and short grounding connection is required for effective discharge of surge currents. For long power lines, installation of a surge protector at both ends is recommended. The product is intended exclusively for 12VDC power supply lines without an AC component or data signal.
