The Arctic DB-01 is a passive DI box for converting an unbalanced instrument or line signal to a low-impedance balanced signal suitable for a mixer or console microphone input. It provides 6.3mm jack input and parallel link output, a 600Ω balanced XLR output, Ground Lift and selectable 0dB, -20dB or -40dB attenuation.

Technical description

The Instrument input is a 50kΩ unbalanced 6.3mm TS jack and the parallel Link output is also a 50kΩ unbalanced 6.3mm jack. The balanced output is 600Ω via XLR. Its passive design requires no battery or external power. The all-metal chassis measures approximately 120x76.5x45mm.

Typical applications

Connecting electric guitar, bass, keyboard or other unbalanced sources to balanced mixer, stage box or console inputs. Suitable for live sound, studio and installed audio where long cable runs and ground-loop noise may be an issue.

Compatibility note

Verify that the source provides an analogue unbalanced signal through a 6.3mm jack and that the destination accepts a balanced XLR input. The DB-01 is a passive DI box and is not a microphone preamplifier.

Frequently asked questions

Does it require power?
No. The DB-01 is passive and requires no battery or phantom power.

What does the Ground Lift switch do?
It isolates the ground path at the balanced output to help reduce hum caused by ground loops.
