Electro-optical Ethernet signal converter switch that can be equipped with an optional SFP slot (small form-factor pluggable tranceiver) which can support Gigabit Ethernet connections over traditional fiber optics. To take advantage of this option, you must have a compatible 100BaseX SFP tranceiver inserted into the slot. You can use either a fiber optic multimode tranceiver as a single-mode tranceiver, or use SFP converters that convert the 1000BaseX singal to a standard 1000BaseT signal.
