The 28BYJ-48 5V is a compact four-phase stepper motor with an integrated reduction gearbox of approximately 1:64. It provides controlled rotary movement and is suitable for educational projects, automation systems, robotics and positioning applications.
Technical description
The motor operates from a nominal 5VDC supply and uses a four-phase unipolar configuration with five connection wires. Its integrated gearbox reduces the output speed and increases the available torque at the output shaft.
The nominal reduction ratio is approximately 1:64, while the output stride angle is specified as 5.625 degrees / 64. This construction allows controlled positioning and direction through the appropriate activation sequence of the four motor phases.
The 28BYJ-48 is supplied with five wires and a 5-pin connector and can be operated using a ULN2003 driver or another suitable stepper-motor driving circuit. It must not be connected directly to microcontroller output pins because its windings require more current than standard input and output pins can provide.
The output shaft features flat sides for secure connection to gears, pulleys, indicators and other mechanisms. Side mounting tabs allow the motor to be attached to a frame or mounting bracket.

Connection note
A ULN2003 module or equivalent driver is recommended for controlling the motor. The 5VDC power supply must provide sufficient current for the motor. When an external power supply is used, its ground must be connected to the microcontroller ground.
