The MG996R 360 degrees continuous rotation is a high torque servo motor with metal gears, designed for continuous clockwise or counterclockwise rotation. Unlike the standard MG996R 180 degrees version, the 360 degrees version does not control a specific angular position, but works as a continuous rotation servo where the PWM signal controls rotation direction and speed.
Technical description
The MG996R 360 degrees typically operates from 4.8-6.0V DC and is controlled by a standard servo PWM signal. Around the 1.5ms centre pulse the servo stops, while shorter or longer pulses rotate it in one direction or the other. The metal gear transmission provides increased mechanical strength compared with plastic gear servos, while the standard servo size makes it compatible with many brackets, mounts and robotics constructions.

Compatibility note
The MG996R 360 degrees continuous rotation is not a precision positional servo. It cannot stop at a specific angle such as 45, 90 or 180 degrees without an external position sensor. For robot arms or pan-tilt mechanisms requiring position control, the MG996R 180 degrees version should be used. For stable operation, a separate 5V or 6V power supply with sufficient current and common ground with the microcontroller are recommended.
