The MIDLAND X-30 is a vertical omnidirectional dual-band VHF/UHF base antenna, suitable for amateur radio communications on the 144MHz and 430MHz bands. It supports a maximum transmitter power of 150W and is a reliable choice for fixed transceivers and base station installations.

Technical description

The antenna uses a 1/2 wavelength configuration on the 144MHz band and a 2x5/8 wavelength configuration on the 430MHz band. Its dual-band design allows a single antenna to be used for communications on the 2m and 70cm amateur radio bands.

The MIDLAND X-30 features vertical polarisation and an omnidirectional radiation pattern, providing coverage in all horizontal directions. It is suitable for outdoor mast installation and operation with fixed VHF/UHF transceivers.

The coaxial cable is connected through an SO-239 socket, suitable for a PL-259 plug. The antenna has an overall length of approximately 130cm and a specified SWR of approximately 1.5:1 within its intended operating bands.

Installation note

The antenna should be installed vertically on a suitable mast, as high and unobstructed as possible, away from metallic objects and electrical power lines. The use of a low-loss 50 Ohm coaxial cable and proper mast grounding is recommended.
